There
are many reasons an engine submission might fail. It doesn't
necessarily mean that the engine or directory is dead. Here
are some possible reasons:
Connection timeout
- Timeout while attempting connection with Server. Perhaps
the connection at the engine is bogged down, or there are
too many users on the site at the moment. Solution:
change your timeout setting to a higher value.
Submission timeout
- Submission query has been sent but timed out waiting for
server to respond. Solution:
change your timeout setting to a higher value.
Failed to connect
to site - Perhaps the site is temporarily down,
or there is a problem somewhere between you and the site
at the time you were submitting. Just try again later
Failed submission
- Perhaps the submission script or data format is changed
by the site owner, and returns an error submission code.
Site Moved or closed
- Because change is constant, site owners may change
their addresses regularly, or the sites are no longer there.
As a result Dynamic Submission 2000 cannot connect to it.
Please inform Dynamic Software
if you think any engine is dead.
Because change is constant, we update our engine submission
data files regularly. However, If you keep getting higher
failed submission rates more than a few days, please updated
the engine data files by clicking on the "File/Update
Engine Data File" menu item and try again. If you have
tried it several times over the course of a week, please
let us know using the 'Dead Engine' report on our web site
and we will check it out or remove it from our index.
